Salon and Spa Service Pricing Calculator: Menu Margin and Profit Per Hour
A salon service pricing calculator should tell you which services actually earn money, not just which ones are popular. This one takes the price, minutes, provider cost and product cost of each service and shows the margin and the profit per hour.
This free Spa Service Menu Margin Calculator is a salon and spa service pricing calculator from LiveFixPro Bookkeeping. It also works out the price a service would need to reach a target margin you choose, holding your other costs. It fits day spas, salons and med spas.
It runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded, sent or stored, and it works offline once the page is open. You don't need any client information, only services and costs.
No account and no uploads. This tool sets no cookies and has no analytics of its own.
What the calculator asks for
Every number is your own, and nothing is preset.
Your room and margin settings
Room and overhead cost per hour ($). Rent, utilities, supplies and similar, divided by the hours you can book.
Target margin (%), optional. Your own goal.
Your services. Add one row per service:
Service name.
Price ($).
Minutes the service takes.
Provider cost, entered either as a % of the price or as $ per hour. Use one figure that reflects what the provider's time costs you. The tool doesn't work out pay rules or commissions.
Product cost ($) for that service.
Want a quick look? Tap Load a sample. The sample data is made up.
What you get back
Profit and margin for each service, shown beside the row.
Profit per hour for each service, and the price needed for your target margin.
A ranked list from highest to lowest profit per hour, with profit per service and margin.
A plain-English summary naming the highest and lowest profit per hour on your menu.
Print or download a CSV. In the CSV download, a service name that starts with =, +, - or @ gets an apostrophe in front so a spreadsheet shows it as plain text.
How it's worked out
Profit = price minus provider cost minus overhead minus product cost.
Overhead for a service = your overhead cost per hour times its minutes, divided by 60.
Margin = profit divided by price.
Price for target margin solves for the price that reaches your target, holding your other costs.
These are estimates from your numbers only. The tool doesn't say what a service should cost or what a good margin is for your business.
Keep the inputs real
A margin is only as good as the numbers behind it.
Track product and supply costs in their own accounts in QuickBooks®, so each service's product cost comes from the books.
Update the overhead per hour when rent or utilities change.
Review the menu at least once a year, using your latest numbers.

FAQ
What is a salon service pricing calculator?
It shows what each service earns after provider cost, product cost and a share of your room overhead. This one gives margin and profit per hour for every service, so you can compare them on the same basis.
How do I find the profit on a spa service?
Take the price and subtract provider cost, product cost and overhead for the minutes the service takes. The calculator does this for each service and shows the result as dollars and as a margin.
Can it tell me what price to charge?
It shows the price a service would need to reach the target margin you enter, holding your other costs. That is arithmetic from your numbers, not a recommendation of what to charge.
Is this a spa service pricing calculator too, and does it work for med spas?
Yes. It works for salons, day spas and med spas. It only uses services, prices, minutes and costs. You don't enter client or patient information, and it makes no claims about any treatment.
Does it upload or store my numbers?
No. It runs in your browser, and nothing you enter is uploaded, sent or stored.
